Green School News
Our Green Schools Committee has been hard at work, transforming old car tyres into colorful flower planters. These upcycled planters now host a variety of vibrant flowers, chosen to attract important pollinators like bees and butterflies.
The pupils in the Special ASD classes enjoyed planting herbs. They planted rosemary, thyme, parsley, lavender and some strawberries. Everyone is looking forward to watching their plants grow over the coming weeks—and maybe even tasting some of the results!
Thanks so much to Niamh who visited all classes from 1st to 6th to deliver a GOAL workshop on global citizenship and sustainable development. We learned all about the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 as part of our Green Schools theme.
Many thanks to Arminas, Conor, Cillian, Dáire, Adam and Alex from 4th & 6th Class who made beautiful bird houses, which have been placed in the trees around our school. Thanks to Ben in 4th who also made an owl house.
A bird has chosen Adam’s beautiful birdhouse as the perfect spot to build her nest — and she’s now caring for her tiny chicks inside it. The pupils are observing quietly to keep the bird family safe and comfortable.
It’s a lovely reminder of how our small efforts like recycling and planting can make a difference for nature!
Best of luck to the Green School Committee for their entry in The Love Where You Live Primary Schools Competition. The Love Where You Live Schools Judge Oisin Mc Cann, author &, illustrator visited our school today giving the committee the opportunity to present their project on Climate Action. Well done to all the pupils on their hard work!
